Bark is a startup aimed at the dog mad and their pet pooches. With the BarkBox, customers receive new treats and toys for their dog every month. But, they're not just any old toys - Bark uses 3D printing to prototype its fun designs.
Researchers from Carnegie Mellon University are using a desktop FDM 3D printer, off-the-shelf printing filaments and a design editor to create flat prints which self-fold into different shapes when heat is applied. This technique is called Thermorph.
Among the multitude of Rapid + TCT announcements, Stratasys showed off the impressive capabilities of its upgraded J750 PolyJet 3D printer alongside the brand new J735. Both can print over 500,000 color combinations in addition to textures and transparent parts -- all in the same print.
