The top piece an box are connected together with a spring so that as the cat moves across the box the top tilts one way and then the other triggering 2 tones. While this box is fixed permanently by the cat door and it is designed for cats to make sounds as they pass over it, it is really made for birds because it alerts them that the cats are now outside.

This is my entry for 1st week of Ultimaker Design Engine Challenge. 

The Design Challenge asked for: &quot;Music to my ears&quot; Create an object that makes sound or music, with two parameters: &quot;Permanent&quot;&amp; &quot;Design for Them&quot;.

I&apos;m Guessing that the &quot;Sound or Music&quot; part is Pretty Much self explenetory, but here it goes: you blow to the Mouthpeice and rotate the Bottom Handle. By doing that, you rotate the Air flow, each time passing it through a different whistle in turn. While each Whistle can be pre-tuned to play a different note, you creating a pepetuating (or permanent) melody, like a music box.

The Parameter &quot;Design for Them&quot; is answered by my client defenition - Begineers who want to learn how to compose melodies and want to do it live, on the go, while they&apos;re learning by doing. 

NOTE: i hav&apos;nt tested it, so i can&apos;t really know, but my guess is that it&apos;s a little too small for printing accuretly and needed to by at least 150% bigger than the STL models. Because it&apos;s a &quot;no brainer&quot; with Ultimaker&apos;s Cura slicer, i didn&apos;t gave it a lot of thought when designing it.

This is my entry for 1st week of Ultimaker Design Engine Challenge. 

The Design Challenge asked for: "Music to my ears" Create an object that makes sound or music, with two parameters: "Permanent"& "Design for Them".

I'm Guessing that the "Sound or Music" part is Pretty Much self explenetory, but here it goes: you blow to the Mouthpeice and rotate the Bottom Handle. By doing that, you rotate the Air flow, each time passing it through a different whistle in turn. While each Whistle can be pre-tuned to play a different note, you creating a pepetuating (or permanent) melody, like a music box. 

The Parameter "Permanent" answered by the circular motion and repeted melody.
The Parameter "Design for Them" is answered by my client defenition - Begineers who want to learn how to compose melodies and want to do it live, on the go, while they're learning by doing. 

NOTE: i hav'nt tested it, so i can't really know, but my guess is that it's a little too small for printing accuretly and needed to by at least 150% bigger than the STL models. Because it's a "no brainer" with Ultimaker's Cura slicer, i didn't gave it a lot of thought when designing it.

Our challenge was to make an object that produces music So, as a team, we decided that we would make bubble wrap into music. Our idea is to have a conveyer belt with bubble wrap on it. There will be a wheel with needles positioned on top of this conveyer belt. The conveyer belt will move by cranking a handle that will be found on one side of the machine. When the conveyer belt moves, it will cause the wheel with the needles to turn and pop the bubble wrap. The melodious sound of bubble wrap will henceforth exit from the horn and into the ears of those present. The bubble rap will then proceed to be refilled and taped over by a machine at the other end of the popper so it can be used again. 
This idea is permanent because it is relatively simple and will only require new gas and tape to refill the bubble wrap. It&#x2019;s for everyone because anyone can turn the crank that will produce the sounds.

For the first week’s challenge, the name of it was music to my ears, meaning that my partner and I would have to come up with an instrument or an object that can make noise. The parameter of the challenge was something permanent or long lasting which you can see in our design due to the fact the harp has been around for such a long time making it permanent. The one modifier that we had to incorporate to our design was designed for them and our interpretation of this modifier was to design something specifically for a group of people which could be seen in our design because it is based off the Greek people. 

Our final solution was based on the greek harp. We chose this because not only did we want to do something a little more complex but we wanted an easy way to incorporate all of these constraints that we had on us for this challenge.
