<div><p>Great trays. I&apos;m printing them for about 50 cents each. Nice little handle... That toddlers who like shiny things can get their hands on. And easily rip out.</p>
<p>So I thought about rejiggering the entire tray, and thought that sounded like work. Looked at it and came up with this two piece locking mechanism. It will prevent curious toddlers named Torrin (and perhaps others) from pulling drives out of the shelf. And will make you look twice while doing drunken weekend mainentance. Or just bumping into it too hard and knocking something loose. Nothing overly serious, but just a hint of protection.</p>
<p>Each pair should protect a pair of drives. The trays don&apos;t seem to rack enough to come out as long as one side stays in.</p>
<p>Unfortunately, it does block the light passages. OTOH, I have powered mine up yet (need to rearrange my rack) so I don&apos;t know if those are worth a darn anyway.</p>
<p>For each lock, you&apos;ll need to print one of each file.</p>
<p>If anyone is really interested, I can upload the step files or whatever Fusion lets me export this week.</p>

                        </p><div><p>You will probably need supports. I might have gotten lucky had I used some other filament and not needed them. Who knows. </p>
<p>I did use rafts, but that&apos;s more because my printer is acting a little weird the past couple of hours.</p>
<p>The fitment of the two pieces is snug. I spent a few hours/revisions getting it just right for my printer. You may have to file things down a tad. The male piece should be just a hair thinner (I think mine are two layers thinner) than the socket. The socket should be just as snug in the hole on the disk shelf.</p>
<p>The socket that goes through the hole in the disk shelf is very thing. It has a bit of backing from the shelf surrounding it. Again, this isn&apos;t keeping the Hulk out of it. It&apos;s keeping a toddler out who has less fine motor control than a freshman after a good old alcohol fueled hazing.</p></div>
