<h3 class="thing-component-header design how-i-designed-this">How I Designed This</h3>
<p class="detail-title"><strong>Step 1 &#x2013; Sticks and Shapes</strong></p>
                <div><p>To create your own wacky bubble wand all you need is to design a stick and a shape. I did this by creating an artboard about 100x40mm in Illustrator (or you could use Inkscape). I then drew a stick shape, it could just be a simple rectangle (I&#x2019;d recommend rounding the edges to avoid sharp corners), and added a shape at the top using a thick stroke.</p>

                    <p class="detail-title"><strong>Step 2 - Export and Extrude</strong></p>
                <div><p>When I had the 2D wand how I wanted it I exported the canvas as a PNG file with a transparent background at the highest ppi/dpi (pixels per inch/dots per inch) setting possible. On Illustrator the highest ppi setting is 2400 &#x2013; this creates the smoothest image possible and prevents unwanted jagged edges when extruding. </p>
<p>Once that has been exported open up the PNG in Photoshop CC and using the 3D tab extrude the shape so that it is 4mm thick. Export the resulting 3D shape as an STL.</p></div>
                <p class="detail-title"><strong>Step 3 &#x2013; Print (and prepare the bubble solution)</strong></p>
                <div><p>Once you&#x2019;ve exported the shape it should be ready to print. The next step is printing it and creating a bubble solution to test your design. </p>
<p>Here is a recipe for a bubble solution that I found worked pretty well:</p>

Will fit on before opening the bottle and can be used as a cover after opening (...but not as a sealing cap).<br>The design is shaped internally to make the hat sit slightly back when on an open bottle (i.e. there is an angled internal surface to orient it this way)</p>
<p>Can also be used as a simple decorative piece... easy print. Allowing for a 1mm Raft Base change the colours from white to red at 16mm (approx. 39%) and from red back to at white 73mm (approx. 92%) on a Replicator 2.</p>
<p>At standard (100%) size the hole in the base will print at approx. 32.5mm in diameter so it is a loose fit onto any wine bottle and is a snug fit onto a bubbly bottle with it&apos;s wire and foil still in place. Could easily be resized to suit other bottles etc. (eg. beer bottles).</p>
<p>Note: A second .stl (alt_support) has been added which has more solid support. This is required for some slicing apps that have issues with slicing the original files fine designed in support. However, the thicker support will mean the print takes slightly longer and more filament is used.</p>
